Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development

The Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development was officially inaugurated on 20th February, 2023 as the 13th Department of School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus. This department took its roots initially, as the Bachelor of Vocational Degree Programme, (UGC approved) from the academic session 2015-16 under the Department of Horticulture, SAS, NU. Later, it became functional as a full-fledged department in the year 2022 offering two undergraduate programmes namely, Bachelor of Vocation in Horticulture Technology and Food processing and one postgraduate programme, i.e., Master of Vocation in Entrepreneurship with the flexibility to the students by means of predefined entry and multiple exit points such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). The B.Voc. programme is focused on providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles and their National Occupational Standards (NOSs) alongwith broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge. UGC vide D.O. No. F. 2-7/2014 (CC/NVEQF)/Misc., dated 3 rd August, 2016 has recognized B.Voc.
